Andreea Cojocaru is Romanian-born and currently based in Antwerp, Belgium. She studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp and graduated from the Jewellery Design Gold- & Silversmithing Department as well as from the Faculty of Arts and Design, Timisoara, Romania, with a BA in Fine Art Graphics & Printmaking.
Fundamental to Cojocaru’s work is the idea of value, circularity, and traceability. Essentially, preciousness is not only found in materiality but in craftsmanship and labor, too. Her work is process-oriented by focusing on ways to highlight the role of the maker.
Cojocaru’s work uses the language of jewellery as a medium to write a new visual story, utilising the weight of value and the relationship to the body by reinterpreting the image of classical jewellery.
